Welcome to our wedding website! This is dedicated to letting you know everything about us and the day! We want to give you our heartfelt thanks in supporting our love and we cannot wait to see you.

Our Story

we met on the 8th of February 2020 - amidst the start of the pandemic

At this time, Oscar, originally from Sydney was finishing off his entry training to become a Pilot for Cathay Pacific in Adelaide and would be leaving to Hong Kong in a few weeks time
Loyola, a single mum to Aspen, was in her 2nd year of studying the Doctor of Medicine
We were not looking for love and commitment, but upon meeting, found that our values, dreams and future goals aligned
Our love blossomed over our love for the TV show Friends and the fact that we had binged it multiple times over, our love for adventure, travel and exploring new cities and cultures, respect for each other’s professions and the knowledge that we both had big dreams we wanted to achieve and that we would support each other in doing so

While we weren't able to take the traditional dating route, we knew that our commitment to each other was strong and that we would make it work
So much so, that in our short time dating in person, we knew we had found the one we wanted to spend the rest of our lives with

Plans were made to travel back and forth to each other however this was foiled by the pandemic
Whilst our relationship grew over Skype and long distance, so did Oscar's relationship with Aspen. Oscar was learning about what it meant to be a Dad and his commitment to Aspen was just as strong

After 9 months apart unfortunately Oscar was made redundant due to the pandemic. He returned to Australia in December 2020 and we were able to have Christmas as a family for the first time
As Loyola entered one of the hardest years of Medicine, Oscar took on the majority of the parental and mental household load whilst waiting for news about the rehire of Pilots. As it started looking like this was not happening anytime soon, we made a big decision
We decided it was the best time to add to our little family, before Oscar went back to flying and Loyola started working full time as a Doctor
After an early loss, we got pregnant again straight away in July 2021
Loyola successfully finished and passed all of her major exams and took some time off for maternity leave
Our little baby tiger was born in March 2022
During the later end of 2022, we started planning for our future (ie Loyola said to Oscar hurry up and propose because we need to have our wedding before we move to Queensland at the start of 2024). And then…

The Proposal

28th of January 2023

It was a lovely cloudy and wet summer day, reminding me of the wet season in Darwin. After a lot of hint dropping all day from Aspen, Oscar prepared our favourite meal (Korean BBQ) with Loyola’s favourite meat (pork belly and wagyu yum!). He set up our balcony with beautiful rose petals, fairy lights and letters that spelled “marry me”. He prepared a whole speech which he later on told me he completely forgot under the pressure lol. What transpired was Oscar down on one knee, trying to ask me to marry him with Aspen taking photos and continuously interrupting “look Mum, it’s a marry ring!”, “Omg are you going to say yes”, “Now we can get married!”. It was a sweet moment with the kids and absolutely perfect. Oscar had a hard job with picking out the ring since I kept back flipping on what I wanted lol. It is perfect and so beautiful that I can’t even wear it for fear of somehow losing it. We can’t wait until the end of the year!

Wedding Party

Our wedding party will consist of our 2 closest friends, our children & Loyola’s nieces and nephews to celebrate and recognise their shared Torres Strait Islander culture.

Rebecca Carli

I met Becky online in 2017, both single Mums looking for friendship and support. Since then, we have grown a beautiful friendship, as two Leo's who love to travel and explore new places we've done loads of family holidays together with our two kiddies. Becky has always supported me in motherhood, my dreams and my relationship with Oscar. She also did the absolute MOST by being Cessa's first early childhood educator. Thank you for making such an emotional time, so smooth & easy. I can't wait for many more years of friendship to come.

James Begley

I first met James in High School. One Summer we decided to play a social basketball competition together and since then our friendship has grown through our love (obsession) of sports. This has resulted in MANY messages and phone calls through the years (mainly about sports). Despite me moving countless times all over Australia and even internationally, our friendship has never wavered. James has always had my back no matter what and I am so lucky and thankful to call him my friend.

Bronwyn Wills & Russel Wills

Walking Loyola down the aisle will be her Mother, Bronwyn Wills and Godfather Russel Wills on behalf of Loyola’s late father Peter Wills.
After Loyola’s Dad passed away in 2009, these two people have supported her in her studies, dreams and in every step of life.
"My mum has become a mum and a dad, having to deal with my teenage years, and then becoming my support system and second parent with Aspen. I have given you a tough ride mum and you have always accepted this, put your head down and helped. I’m glad I have someone now that can take over and give you a bit of a break! (Except please move with us to Queensland thank you)"
"My Uncle Russel has always been there for me, rooting for my success from afar and always being the first to help if I requested it. He is the next closest person I consider a Dad and I am honoured to have him walk me down the aisle for this day. I hope in the future that I am able to give back to the family just how much Uncle Russel has"

Kanisha Wills & Odelia Sze-To

Kanisha & Odelia (our little sisters) have been amazing supports to us. Aspen & Cessa love them both very much. We couldn't think of two better people to host and represent our families on our special day.
Our favourite memory of our sisters:
Kanisha: My favourite memory of Kanisha is when she saw Aspen for the first time after he was born. As she stood over him wrapped in the bassinet, she gazed at him with such love, awe and joy that it melted my heart. She reached out to stroke his cheek and he held her thumb for a long time. I knew at that moment how much of a special bond they would have as Aunty and Nephew.
Odelia: My favourite memory of Odelia is her first day at School. She was so shy and followed me everywhere. But that was the last time she needed me as a big brother! Since then, she has grown up and matured into a smart, capable and independent woman. It makes me so incredibly proud to see her excel in leadership roles at work and holding down the fort while I've been away. Despite our indifferences at times, she will always be my sister and I'll always be there for her no matter what.

Gifts

Your presence at our wedding is the greatest gift of all. However, if you wish to follow with tradition and purchase a gift, a financial donation to help us establish ourselves in our new family home would be welcomed and greatly appreciated. If you wish to participate, simply look for the wishing well at the reception to leave your best wishes and donation.
Alternatively we also have a digital registry for those that wish to contribute and may not be able to make it to the wedding. You can find the details here: https://www.easyregistry.com.au/oscar-loyola

Kids

We love everyone’s kids but due to space restrictions, only kids from close family relatives will be attending the wedding and reception (trust us there's already so many).
We thought this would be a perfect excuse to have the night off and have a little kid-free fun! Please enjoy it for us because sadly our kids have to attend because according to them, it’s their wedding too.
